How do you order a recovery disc for a Altec laptop for windows 7?

anyone know the phone number and how much should expect to pay for this?

also, if can actually get a Windows 7 installation disc..what is the difference? (Btw, this Windows Installation disc is for 1 computer only..but can it be used again and again like a recover disc?)

Recovery disc is a Windows disc made especially for that particular PC
years ago, people used to be able to do a recovery disc on machines that not came for, but not anymore.
In another word, recovery disc is a special version of that OS with all additional drivers and software.

Here is the answer to your question:
Some companies lately have the option to save your recovery disc on your hard drive instead, and have a special software that enables user to create those recovery disc(s) for you. If you have that you can create recovery discs for free. Search something called "Recovery" on your start menu.

While Operation disc, or so called OS disc, is the OEM version of the system that should be installed on only one machine (unless they authorize you to do more)
IT IS ILLEGAL TO INSTALL ONE OPERATION DISC ON MORE THAN ONE MACHINE if it was not made for that (Some Windows7 versions allows you to install on 3 machines like Windows7 family pack)

Otherwise, it is illegal.

Let me know if that makes sense

Why do i see the lock icons on my ms office files (excel)? How do i get rid of them?

I've a Windows 7 machine.

It is not Office issue, it is a Windows issue

You have that drive encrypted and that is why your files have lock on them

Means you cannot access them if you are not the owner
or something like that

Windows Vista Question! Please help!?

Okay, so I have a Windows Vista home edition, and all of the sudden, my video player has stopped working. a few Youtube videos work at random, I have no idea why some work and some don't there no correlation between them, and nothing completely flash dependent like games works. I know I have the newest version of Adobe flash player and Java, and I have enough RAM (my computer has fifty GB to work
with), and it goes nearly daily cleanup, so why won't videos work?

From your question I understood that you might need to do Windows Media Player updates

Do that here…

Good luck

Shopping List software for Pocket PC Windows Mobile with POS style interface?

I would like to get a shopping list software for my smartphone, but all of the ones i've seen are either overly complicated or just simple checklists.

I would like to have a program that functions similar to a point-of-sale, when you search for an item in a database, it adds it to a "cart", you specify the quantity, and it adds the total cost as it goes. I would also like the ability to alter a line's quantity or price, as well as add a one time MISC item that is not in the database. I also have Pocket Excel; I'm not sure if there is a clever way to setup something like this with the limitations of Office Mobile.

I've searched and haven't found anything I like. Any ideas?

Try these websites also

If I were you, I would do it in Pocket Excel, step by step using functions

It is true that it is limited Excel, but even though you can do a lot with it

Windows Dvd Maker & Movie maker continuously shutting down?

Opening the two associated programs is fine, its when i click on something or try to add something the program freezes and the message:
Windows Movie Maker has stopped working.
It does the same for DVD Maker.
Ive checked that all my programs have been updated but yet this problem still occurs.
I have plenty of ram and all that so its nothing to do with the hardware. Im on windows vista.

Not sure if this associates with the problem but when i try to insert my USB into the laptop a message appears in the bottom right (a balloon) saying USB has malfunctioned.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks :)

You said it might not related with hardware, but I am afraid it is
First you need to do the following:
- Delete Empty files from (C:\Users\ [YOURUSERNAME\ \ AppData \ Temp) Windows put some files for temporary and that could make that problem
- Did you changed the Ram recently? it sounds like a ram conflection to me
- If not, then make sure you are having a good VGA card (Display adapter) that can hundle the files you are working with.
- Check also if you are facing this in some files or not
- Do you case this also in any other heavy graphic applications (Like Premier or PhotoShop)?

Good luck with that

What are the available Note-Taking Apps for Windows?

I'm looking for the best note taking app that runs on windows and saves locally (at least has that ability). Does anyone have any ideas?

You can try any of those:
1- Install Yahoo! Widgets and get the notepad widget, it is all free
2- There is an application comes with Microsoft OFfice 2007 that does that too
3- Or check free ones here…

How can retrieve the InstallDate for Windows and MS Office with an Excel Macro ?

The date of Windows installation is the date that Administrator account was created (or your User account)
And the date of Office istalled is the date of Microsoft Office folder was created
Depend on your Windows version (VISTA or XP) use this code to get the installation date/time of Windows

Sub WinDate()
Dim fs, fo
Set fs = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSyste…
Set fo = fs.GetFolder("c:\Users\Administrator")
MsgBox fo.DateCreated
End Sub

Change the c:\Users\Administrator to c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator if you have WinXP
(Although the second one will run in VISTA as well)

Do the same for c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office

good luck

I have added new users to Windows XP. In each of these new accounts the Firefox addons have disappeared.?

Recently I have added new user accounts to Windows XP. Since then I have been experiencing numerous problems regarding the use of Mozilla Firefox. All bookmarks, add-ons and customizations have disappeared completely. I've solved the bookmarks problem by importing my old bookmarks list into my new account. In addition customizing Firefox to back my likings was a breeze. However the problem of the missing add-ons remains. I've painstakingly been searching Google for the missing add-ons are re-downloading them one by one.

This brings me to my question. Is there a way to copy Firefox add-ons from one XP account to another? Can I somehow copy add-on files from their location in one users account to another? If such a feat were possible it would save immense quantity of time and reduce my download usage. Help is much appreciated.

Who said copying addons files will copy the addons itself.
If you are sure of that, you can do this:
1- Open the Documents and settings, you will see a folder for each of the users
2- Open the main user (The one that was active when you installed the addons), then go to Application Data folder
3- search in there for the firefox addons files (It should be there in the folder named "firefox" or something like that)
4- If you found nothing there, try the folder "Local Settings" then "Application Data"
5- Copy it into the exact place in all of the users folders
6- restart computer and try again

I still can not think that copying these files will enable them into firefox, any way, you can try

Dell Latitude D600 Laptop USB problem.?

Hello, I have Dell Latitude D600 laptop and have a problem with it.

USB devices aren't working propertly when charger is plugged in and rarely when it is unplugged. For example my USB mouse can move around 10-15 seconds, then stop for 2 or 3 sec and cursor continue moving. If I run Windows I hear sound notification that device is disconnected and sound notification that device is connected after 2-3 seconds again.

It is not looking like Windows problem, because I have same issue under Linux.

Thanks. Any advice appreciated.

Did you installed all device drivers?
If you didn't you should do that first, including BIOS update from Dell company site.
Second: does only the mouse making that problem? or is it any USB device? so you can tell if it is the mouse problem or not.
Third: Do you have any other USB devices connected to the computer at that time, there may be a conflict in the USB.
Forth: Try to use other USB port.
Fifth: Mark me as best answer if this helped you
Sixth: If all these couldn't help you I suggest reinstall Windows.
Seventh: If it is still the same, just put your computer below one of your cars tyres, I am sure this will help.

How do you save a copy of windows registry onto a cd?

1- Open Windows registry editor (Start Menu > Run > type regedit > Enter)
2- go to File > Export > Select file and place > make sure you select "All" check box in Export range
3- Burn this file to CD.

Registry is changing always, so sometimes the importing registry may make problems.

Where can I get a windows 98 compatible English spell checker for my PC. I have no English Word spell checker?

I lost my system and when I re-configured it can re-installed I didn't get the English spell checker. I live in spain and got the spanish one. That's okay but I need a word English spell checker, too. Any help appreciated. Prefer a free one but will buy one if a good one is recommended. Thanks. Henry

It depends on Office version (Word version) if you are talking about Word.
Any way re-Installing Office will solve alot of problems and saves you time and money.

Why wont my Limewire open?

Ok Limewire was working fine until i tried to download counterstrike. After that i gave up becuase i couldnt get it to work. When i tried to open BF2 nothing happened except it froze loading the black screen. It kept doing this counteuiously. I performed a system restore and everything was going fine.. except limewire kept popping up every 10 seconds and my ctrl alt delete wouldnt work. I restored again and got everything working fine. Later when I tried to start Limewire it wouldnt come up and all i got was the little hourglass for a split second like it was going to load it but it cant. I really need my music!!!! I have tried uninstalling and installing but that didnt work. BTW I did a spybot scan and found viruses so I killed them. I also tried undoing those viruses to see if it would work then, but it still didnt so i killed them again. PLZ HELP!!!!

I don't think you can solve this problem without installing antivirus software, And As it mentioned get ready to format and reinstall Windows because will see a brand new creative problem every day.
BUT you still can get your music by copying the files in C:\Program files\Limewire this is the place where it usually saved your music, Unlless you change it.
